Race Day outfit inspo

Hello Ladies and Gents! Yes, I did say Gents because this is my first ever mixed gender fashion post!!! Cant you tell I am excited with all the exclamation marks!!

So to start off I’m going to throw up some fab pieces I’ve seen online that would be perfect for any lady heading off to the races whether you want to wear a dress, jumpsuit or suit I will divide it up into categories to tailor to everyone’s needs.

Jumpsuits

A jumpsuit can be one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. They can be dressed down with sandals or runners for a more casual look or in this case, dressed up with heels and a clutch bag for a day out. There are loads of styles and colours available online ranging from culotte leg, wide leg, backless just to name a few. I think a jumpsuit is a fab choice if you are on the taller side because they are SUPER flattering to long legs.

Suits

I LOVE women in suits! I am wearing one myself this year and I know a few others who are thinking of doing the same. A suit looks super classy and its an outfit you can wear over and over again by mixing and matching the pants and blazer. Pastel suits are a massive trend this season so make sure to pick one up.

Midi dress

A midi dress can come in so many different styles, colours, shapes. They are one of the most versatile types of dresses. Every woman can find a midi dress tailored to her specific preference.

Mini Dress

The mini dress is something us gals always tend to revert back to endlessly on nights out, whether is a simple LBD or a pop of colour, we all have that ONE mini dress that makes us feel absolutely A1. Here are a couple of fancy numbers that will take you straight from the race course into town after ūüėȬ†

FOR THE BOYS……

Classic Suit

You cannot go wrong with a well-tailored suit, and I do need to emphasis WELL tailored. There’s nothing worse than seeing a young lad absolutely swimming in a blazer and suit pants because they didn’t bother going to a seamstress. Man up and get fitted pronto!

IMG_E1318[1]IMG_E1317[1]IMG_E1316[1]

Printed Suit

If you’re looking to jazz up an old classic, try a printed suit. Most of the celebs have been spotted in colour blocked suits, floral, tartan and various exotic prints.

IMG_E1319[1]IMG_E1320[1]IMG_E1321[1]

Jeans and a blazer

If you don’t have the funds to fork out for a new suit, maybe just purchase a new blazer and call it a day? Every lad should own at least one pair of skinny jeans/trousers and a white shirt. Polish your shoes and throw on a funky blazer and you’ll be turning heads left, right and centre.¬†

IMG_E1322[1]IMG_E1323[1]IMG_E1324[1]IMG_E1325[1]IMG_E1326[1]IMG_E1327[1]

Accessories

Last but not least, please do not forget to accessorise appropriately! It’s one of the few times you get to go all out so wear a fancy watch or maybe even try a pocket watch. If you aren’t brave enough to wear a floral suit or blazer, try a tie and pocket square set instead. Don’t forget cuff links if you’re wearing a suit jacket and clean the shoes.

R.A.G Week 2018

Hey everyone! I literally have not been able to bless myself lately between finishing up my FYP (one step closer to possibly graduating woo woo) and working through my internship. The last time I actually wrote a blog post was New Years.. So now that I am finally a free woman, I hope to start belting out more posts as often as I can!

So to kick start the new me, I have decided to put together a little list here in the spirit of Charity Week aka RAG week because let’s face it, we all end up bringing half of our wardrobe with us back to college and only end up wearing the same old reliables.

This list I have put together has been tricky as I have constantly added then removed then added items.. These are just the basic items to bring with you that are versatile to wear both day and night, (which is handy when you are going straight from stables to icon hehe)

  • Midi Skirt

Day: Pair with a t-shirt, jacket and ankle boots or runners.

Night: Change into heels/sock boots.

  • Slogan T-Shirt

Day: Pair with jeans, denim skirt, midi skirt, tracksuit.

Night: Same as above, just throw on some heels.

*Tip* Raid your brothers and parents wardrobes for a vintage t-shirts, half of my Dad’s jumpers and T-shirts have “mysteriously” gone missing over the years….

  • Ankle boots

Day: Literally with everything, comfy shoes are a must this week especially ones you can dance in!!

Night: Five nights in heels is tough going, ankle boots are stylish yet comfy. These are from River Island, a bit pricey but I have not removed them from my feet since I bought them. #Obsessed

  • Statement Jacket

Due to the unpredictable Irish weather, a jacket is essential. Variations include a bomber, denim jacket, blazer, leather jacket.. why not try a duster or trench coat? Some of my faves are down below.

  • Mom Jeans

Day: Pair with a t-shirt/shirt/jumper

Night: Change into heels and a “nice top”

*Mom jeans are my favourite type of jeans because they’re so funky and I just genuinely think they look deadly with heels and a crop top compared to most girls in skinny jeans. Be different and all that..

Redlane 16.12.17

Hey everyone! This little post is just showcasing some local fashion as well as supporting local business here in our very own Waterford. All of the items shown can be found in store in Redlane Boutique in Tramore or online at http://www.redlane.ie.

Now although I love to shop in my normal high street shops such as Penneys, River Island, Topshop etc, I do like to broaden my fashion horizons if I have a special occasion such as a wedding or our annual Race Day. The best thing about Redlane I felt was that firstly, the staff were so helpful that I felt like I was shopping with a couple of my friends but also the HUGE selection of clothes which you wouldn’t normally find in boutique shops. Take a look and see for yourself a mix between both casual and dressy.

Waterford Vs. Web

Hey everyone! So some of you may already know I had been thinking of doing this post for a while. I have decided to showcase some Christmas party outfits available in shops in Waterford City from Penneys, Topshop, River Island and more! However, I know it can be an awful effort to drag yourself out of the house to go shopping so I have also compared them to similar outfits online, which gives you the option to shop from the comfort of your own bed xx

LOOK 1 – PENNEYS

I am obsessed with co-ords and suits (check my full blog post on co-ords) as ye all know, so I instantly went for this fab navy velvet suit in Penneys. I thought this cropped pyjama top was cute and looked fab under the blazer for a more “going-out” vibe.

Black, White and Red all over

I APOLOGISE !! Lads I’m sorry I have been so MIA lately like hello last time I did a fashion post was in summer?? I’m chronic. I had my official last ever day of college last Wednesday and I’m all set for 9 months of my final year of nursing internship¬†ūüė≥

So we all know red is the colour of the season but it can be hard to style up such a bold colour especially if you are used to wearing a lot of safe colours like black and grey. There are loads of red pieces availible and affordable in your high street shops like these boots from Stradivarious which were only ‚ā¨30!! I adore these and I love the Gold detail on the heel. Try motivate yourself to buy at least one red statement item this season.

Go Red or Go home this autumn! If you aren’t feeling like you can pull off a bright red shoe or coat, try add a little hint of red through your makeup. I wore Satin from Mac today which I have had for yearsss.

Electric Picnic 2017

Hey everyone! I have been so busy lately between moving back to college for my final year (cue nervous laughter) and attending electric picnic aswell as the all Ireland final. We won’t talk about that last one. I’m severely wrecked and broke but I’m gonna quickly fill you in on the last weekend for anyone thinking of buying electric picnic tickets for 2018 which are on sale NOW!!
Getting there
So my first year I went from Waterford and it was a breeze, we drove up at¬†7 am¬†and didn’t meet any traffic. We got a clear run and stopped for breakfast on route. We parked in the yellow car park which is a 5 minute walk from the Jimmy Hendrix campsite where we stayed. I would definitely recommend bringing your car if you have one because you can leave stuff in it and go back and forth as opposed to a bus where you have to carry everything at once.
This year we drove up from limerick around half 8 and didn’t meet too much traffic but we had to park in the red car park which was a fair trek to the campsite especially when you’re carrying 20 cans and 4 litres of mixer.
IMG_7054[1]
My outfits
Day 1:
Luckily the weather was actually ok this year so I was able to wear this tie-dyed maxi dress which I purchased on holidays in El Nido. I wore this oversized festival jacket from boohoo.com and just an old pair of converse because as we all know festivals are not the place for fancy footwear. I wore this (what I thought was funky) septum piercing from Penneys also and got the piss taken out of me for the weekend lol.
IMG_7180[1]
Day 2:
I wore this slogan t shirt dress which had the saying “stop everything and dance” paired with a multicoloured kimono/dressing gown which I purchased in a market in Vietnam for about 20 cent. These boots are years old and they’re from schuh.
IMG_7177[1]
Day 3:
Day 3 I went up to Croke park to the all ireland so the attire was fairly basic in jeans and a jersey. I was devastated about the result but if Waterford couldn’t win, I was glad it was Galway if that makes sense. Hopefully this time next year it will be a different story. We are some of the best supporters in the country and I’ve no doubt they’ll come back stronger than ever.
IMG_7096[1]
What to do
  • Body and soul is hands down the coolest place ever also they have a bonfire so when you’re freezing I would deffo recommend heading in there.
  • I know it’s super tempting to stay in the campsite and drink with all your mates but do make the effort to actually go inside and see some acts, you’re after paying ‚ā¨240 in fairness
  • Exploring the food trucks is also a great shout because you can get anything you possibly want, don’t be afraid to try something different inside or getting a burger every day.
  • The salty dog and trailer park are also such cool places to go explore at night time.
So that’s ep in a nutshell really. Even if there is a “bad line up” I would still recommend going because you might be surprised what you could find for example we went to see The Magician at the Heineken stage and going in we only knew one song, but it was the best two hours ever and we had such an unreal time.

Longitude 2017

Hey everyone!
As some of you know I attended Longitude Festival this weekend all thanks to my sister for my amazing 21st present!!ÔłŹ I love outdoor concerts and festivals because it’s the one time we all get to truly experiment with our style and just wear whatever the heck we want and no one cares. I know we all try to do it in our day to day lives but if you walk into work with glitter splashed in your hair and a tie-dyed crop top you are going to receive some strange looks. Anyways, I’ve just gone through some looks I helped style over the weekend as well as the overall experience so enjoy xx
The Outfits
For starters I wore a cream dress I have owned for years from Forever 21 and paired it with an orange kimono from H&M and a brown belt from Primark to give it a more boho look. I kept my makeup pretty basic except I did a statement orange eye (cause realistically I’m not going to be able to wear orange eye shadow to work so decided to experiment) and black liner. My hair was so so simple to do, I just sprayed some texture spray to give it a messy look and parted my hair into a middle parting with two mini space buns.
dscn09051.jpg
The second outfit I styled was different in a sense that I took one piece of clothing (the shirt) and worked the outfit around it. I bought this shirt in TopShop for my sister for her birthday and thought it was perfect for a festival. I paired it with this frayed denim skirt from New Look and black belt with some red converse to bring out the red detailing on the back.
Getting there
I’m lucky enough to have a sister who lives in Dublin so we drove up¬†Friday¬†night and stayed with her. (For those who don’t know, longitude is a non-camping festival) we woke up and cracked open some cans then started plowing into the glitter and face paint. We found an unbelievably nice taxi man called Joe canning lol (Sidenote: he is not from Galway) and he brought us there and back and into town again after. We came home from Marley Park and then just went straight to coppers. Standard.
DSCN0906[1]
What we did
For starters we had to queue up and have our bags searched etc and once we got in we got a round of pints. We took the necessary pictures and got that out of the way then went exploring the venue. We met up with all of the college crowd and my sisters friends and we just chilled because the weather was actually unreal thank god. We then parted ways to see All Tvvins and Skepta then all of us went to the Weeknd. WHO WAS AMAZING BTW.

unnamed (1)

Who won Longitude?
I know my friends reading this are rolling their eyes so far into the back of their head that they can see last week cause I have not stopped talking about it. Niamh Cullen won the Most Stylish Woman of all time at Longitude yesterday. I basically had a mini heart attack when I saw her and asked for a picture like the ultimate creeper that I am. She is so sound and just an all-round deadly girl I mean do you see this jacket? No words. Fabuulous!!
Hands down one of the best days ever, everyone was just in such a good mood and the acts were unbelievable. I would really recommend going next year to anyone thinking about buying tickets. It’s kind of nice that you get to go home to sleep in a proper bed as well as opposed to camping in a tent with no showering facilities.

Penneys Haul

Today I’m just going to show off a few bits I purchased in Penneys the other day. I hadn’t planned on doing this type of post but I went in to get a belt and ended up spending a small fortune on clothes so here we are!

The floral dress- ‚ā¨16

This is my favourite so I’m putting it first. I am obsessed with this dress, it is so comfortable and flowy so you aren’t at all body conscious. The slit up the middle gives it a real elegant vibe and the colours are perfect for this heatwave we are currently having. It can be dressed down with sandals or pair with some heels for a nice dinner outfit.

Shoes- River Island (old stock)

DSCN0869[1]

DSCN0864[1]

The T shirt dress-‚ā¨8

This lilac dress comes in a variety of colours and is perfect for lounging around the house or even to throw on over your swimwear heading to the beach. I’m going to be wearing this for quick trips into town with a pair of trainers or sliders. The gathered hem is a nice little detail to give the outfit some character.

Shoes- Adidas Gazelle

DSCN0857[1]

DSCN0860[1]

The high waist shorts and belt – ‚ā¨15 and ¬†‚ā¨5 respectively

These black high waist shorts are so fabulous for summer with the studded detailing on the front make them my must-have for any festival-goer this season. I paired them with a retro black black belt also from penneys. What I love about these is they actually fit so well. Most jeans from penneys I can’t wear because they gather in all the wrong places but these are suprisingly perfect. They have one top button and a zip which I waaaay prefer over a line of buttons down your crotch! So much easier to go to the bathroom lol.

Tshirt- NewLook

Leather jacket- Topshop

Boots- Newlook

DSCN0862[1]

DSCN0863[1]

The jacket- ‚ā¨21

This was the first thing I tried on and instantly fell in love with it. It is super light weight so ideal for summer for nights out or dinner when there ¬†can be a bit of an Irish-chill in the air. The colour is bright and fun for the time of the year and the ties at the wrists are on trend, but still subtle. If you’re going on a “jeans and a nice top” kind of night out, this is perfect for you!

Bodysuit- Forever21

Jeans- Topshop

Shoes-Penneys

DSCN0874[1]

DSCN0870[1]

The Shoes – ‚ā¨5 each

Sliders are on trend and you are not living unless you have a pair to throw on this summer! I wore mine into town with some culottes and a top just casually but add some glam to your pool side style by adding a pair of metallic or gingham ¬†ones in penneys. A must have if you’re going away this summer.

(Apologies for the terrible paint job on my nails, I was in a rush)

DSCN0882[1]

Last but not least, these fab little sandals had been on my radar for a while now and when I walked in the other day they were reduced to a fiver. Such a bargain. I am going to be wearing these bad boys with white, denim and black jeans aswell as with some of my summer dresses. They are so handy for when you want to have a casual night out with your pals and so great for dancing.

DSCN0886[1]

That’s all for now, I would strongly recommend heading into Penneys on your day off or lunch break to pick up a few bits. I should also mention I have a bundle of swimwear ready to go for my holiday in August so I will have the outfit diary of that trip up when we get home.

Mini Mint x

Flower power

Hiya! It’s me, back at it again with the crazy pictures of myself… A thing most girls think when deciding on an outfit for a night out that they can’t wear floral because they feel it is “too girly” I’ll throw my hands up and admit this as well, cause when you’re out in a nightclub you want to be seen as “sexy” so we all go for the outfits that are black and tight! Admit it, we are all guilty. Nothing to be ashamed about.

I made this post to showcase how versatile floral can be and to INSPIRE you guys to step out of the mainstream way of thinking. I mean fair enough wear a choker and a crop top with jeans on a night out, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it! Just don’t be afraid to switch it up from time to time because that is what your clothes are for, to showcase your uniqueness and individuality!

The floral dress

I am in love with this dress for the simple reason that it’s flattering AF and I think blondes pull off red really well. This dress can be worn casual or throw on some heels to class it up a bit. The tie at the neck and waist are there to suit your own body shape so it is so flattering to all body types. The daisy print is small and subtle but gives you a real cute and feminine look.

Skorts are making a huge comeback and I am a happy camper! I had two skorts in first year of college that I wore to death cause they are so flipping comfy. Super handy when you’re in a bathroom at 2am cause there is no hassle and you can continue to boogie the night away without being conscious of making sure your dress is pulled down or your playsuit isn’t giving you camel-toe. I picked up this one in Bershka cause I loved the plait down the front and the colours in it mean it can be worn with so many different types of tops! This would be perfect for a holiday cause you could mix&match, save yourself from packing loads of different shorts!

The floral playsuit

Now this is something more like what you could wear for a night out. A simple playsuit with pockets! This blush pink colour is on trend at the moment and you could pair it with khaki green heels and some gold hoops. I threw on some sandals for this to show a more casual vibe. Can we appreciate that I am in a tree? Absolute lol.

The floral accessories

If you are too nerve to try the whole floral ensemble, take baby steps and wear a statement necklace or handbag. A simple black and white outfit can really spark some character if you throw on a cute clutch or a blazer with floral print. The main thing is to just do what works for you and what you will feel comfortable in!

  • Newlook- ¬† ¬† ¬† Grey heels
  • Parfois- ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† Yellow floral strap handbag

Co-Ord for Summer

Hiya! So this is my first fashion post and I am so excited to share it with you! One trend that I have loved for years is the co-ord set so I have broken down four different looks that can be suited for all occasions.

The smart-casual look

This combo is perfect for strolling around the shops, attending a function or even a night out. The best thing about this look is you can dress it up with heels or pair it with sandals for a more casual vibe. You can’t go wrong with a simple blazer and high waisted shorts co-ord!

Details:

  • Bershka- ¬† Blazer and Shorts
  • Newlook- ¬†Wrap around sandals
  • H&M- ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† Orange ruffled crop top

The classic Denim co-ord

Two of my favourite styles rolled into one. Create a more edgy vibe with pairing a denim jacket with your denim shorts/jeans. I put a sheer crop top with this outfit and a bright red bralette. The best thing about this combo is you can literally make it work over and over again by changing up the tops and adding in a belt or a choker.

Details:

  • Bershka- ¬† Oversized Denim Jacket
  • H&M- ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†White sheer crop top
  • Folkster- ¬† Ankle boots
  • Primark- ¬† Patchwork shorts and bralette

The Fancy Co-Ord

Ok so this one is definitely not suited for a casual day time look, however the pants can be worn with a simple white tee and some trainers for casual vibe. This look would be more suited for a night out or an occasion of some sort such as a christening or birthday party. The white piping on the black silk give a luxurious feel to the outfit and is on trend with the pyjama style sported by Kendall and GiGi.

Details:

  • Primark- ¬†Black blazer and pants (an absolute golden find!)
  • Topshop- ¬†White lace crop top
  • Office- ¬† ¬† ¬† Heels

The Festival Co-Ord

I am obsessed with this outfit! The bardot top and wide leg pants are so on trend at the moment and can be swapped around to create so many various looks. my personal favourite though is wearing the two together. I paired this look with gold wedges and a simple black floppy hat. Perfect for anyone heading to a festival this summer.

  • Aldo- ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†Gold wedges
  • Primark- Black floppy hat
